The factory airbox on the MK7 Golf GTI is one of the better OEM designs — but it's still built for noise compliance, not driver engagement. The corrugated plastic intake tube and restrictive paper filter silence the very sounds that make the EA888 Gen 3 engine worth modifying: turbo spool, diverter valve flutter, and induction growl.
The Flashark MK7 GTI Cold Air Intake Kit replaces the factory intake tract with a black powder-coated aluminum mandrel-bent intake tube and a high-flow dry filter. The result is an open-element intake that uncovers the turbo and diverter sounds the factory engineers worked hard to hide, along with 8–12 HP and 10–15 lb-ft of torque on the stock tune. Gains increase with a Stage 1 ECU calibration.
Installation takes about 45–60 minutes using basic hand tools. The kit includes all necessary silicone couplers, vacuum line adapters, reducer fittings, and stainless steel clamps — everything you need to replace the factory airbox in one session. No cutting, no drilling, no permanent modifications.
