What is Water Spot Remover?

Water spot remover is a formula specially made to remove water spots like stubborn hard water, rain contamination, or mineral deposits effortlessly. Water spots form on a vehicle when water evaporates from the surface, leaving behind marks or calcium. These marks can eventually cause damage if it is not removed. Water spot remover comes in a ready to use 16 oz bottle and a more concentrated gallon. 

What Ingredients are in Water Spot Removers?

While water spot removers are made differently from brand to brand, some common ingredients you can find in these products are 

• Acids are a main active ingredient in water spot removers. However, mild acids are used so no damage occurs. They work to dissolve those hard water spots. Types of acids you can find in this product are citric acid, acetic acid, phosphoric acid, or hydrochloric acid. 
• Surfactants help to spread the product evenly and lift the minerals off of the vehicle's surface. 
• Chelating agents also aid in removing those water spots from the surface. A common chelating agent is ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid or EDTA.
• Polymers work to protect the surface after the water spots are lifted and dissolved. 
• Solvents or carrier fluids carry the active ingredients and can be anything from water, alcohol, or other solvents.

How to Use Water Spot Remover?

Instructions may vary depending on manufacturer; however, a general guide to using this product is as follows

1. Start by taking any safety precautions such as wearing gloves, eye protection, etc.
2. Remove any loose dirt or particles with a wash mitt, car shampoo, and water. Dry thoroughly with a clean microfiber towel.
3. Spray the product onto the surface and a microfiber towel or applicator pad for the application process.
4. Once applied, allow for the product to dwell for a few minutes.
5. Rinse with water or wipe away the excess product with a clean or damp cloth – depending on the specified instructions.
6. Dry the surface with a clean microfiber towel to prevent any new water spots from forming. 
7. Additionally, you can apply a protective product like a wax or sealant to provide extra protection.
