Description
Description
The first EVER production based hidden winch mount for OBS Fords! Designed to fit a winch behind your factory front bumper to retain that classic OBS look, but still able to party on the trails if needed. Built entirely from 1/4" HRPO. All grade 8 hardware included.
Designed around a 7.3 WITH an intercooler. ( we have only confirmed fitment with OBS solutions icebox intercooler, all intercoolers are not created equal so reach out if you have questions) regardless of intercooler, it will be MANDATORY to mount it how OBS Solutions does, which means raising it up above the frame rails, which requires modifications to the hood latch.
You will need to remove and relocate the control box on the winch to fit in the bumper. Works with factory leaf spring trucks, however it was designed around a coil sprung converted truck, and a small amount of trimming is required with factory leaf springs. It should fit no problem on coil spring swapped trucks. We have put a lot of adjustment into the winch mount itself to make sure there is adjustment for bent rails.
PLEASE READ:
- WILL NOT fit 1/2 ton trucks! (F-150's) As of now this is only for 3/4 and 1 ton truck frames. We will be working on adapter brackets to work on 1/2 ton trucks.
- WILL NOT fit 2WD trucks. 2WD frames are lacking much of the structural areas needed for this mount to work.
- WILL NOT work with trucks running any RSK kit.
- 1/4" spacer on bumper is required regardless of winch size. Spacer is provided. It is recommended to tack weld it to the factory bumper mounts, but not necessary.
- Clearance is TIGHT. There is a reason this has not been done before. Tolerance's are between 1/8" and 1/16" of an inch in most places. If your factory bumper is tweaked this could be enough to cause clearance issues. Mounting the winch and bumper will most likely require you to remove grille and lower valance to access the rear hardware on the winch mount.
- Bumper trimming is required. It is very minimal. You will need to remove some of the lip located on the inner bottom side of the bumper to clearance for the mount itself.
- Professional installation recommended. Install is straight forward, but not necessarily easy.
Fairlead reinforcement:
We have an optional fairlead reinforcement bracket. We do not find this necessary for everyone, which is why we made it optional. Most of these winches will never even be turned on. If that is you, the factory bumper is built well enough to handle normal winch conditions here and there. If you are a frequent off-roader and will be winching frequently we recommend the fairlead mount to minimize stress on the factory bumper. If you are running an intercooler this may be enough extra width to keep you from fitting the winch. So please keep that in mind.
We do not have any sort of installation guide at this time. But Joe did a nice YouTube video of his install that gives a good overview of how to properly install.
