Description
Description
The Flashark Coilover Kit for the BMW 3 Series E36 platform (1990–1999) delivers a serious handling upgrade for one of the most beloved sport sedans — and sports coupes — in BMW history. Whether you're driving an E36 325i daily driver or building a dedicated E36 M3 track machine, this coilover kit lowers your car 2"–4", sharpens turn-in response, reduces body roll, and transforms the way the E36 feels on the street and the track.
Complete 4-piece set: 2 front struts + 2 rear shock absorbers with height-adjustable spring seats. Everything you need to bolt this on and get dialing.
What makes this different: Twin-tube construction with high-rate 6061-T6 aluminum spring seats and precision-wound 55CrSi steel springs. Springs tested to over 600,000 cycles with less than 0.04% deformation rate — not the cheap eBay specials that sag after 6 months.
Fits the full E36 platform: 318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i, and M3 (1995–1999). Sedan, coupe, and convertible.
Features
High-Performance 55CrSi Steel Springs
Precision-wound high-tensile 55CrSi steel springs, stress-tested to over 600,000 cycles. Spring deformation rate under 0.04% — meaning the car sits at the same height 2 years from now as it did the day you installed it. Cheap coils sag. These don't.
6061-T6 Forged Aluminum Components
Top mounts, spring seats, and upper hardware use forged 6061-T6 aluminum — the same alloy grade used in aerospace applications. Lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant. Not the cast aluminum you'll find on budget coilovers.
Twin-Tube Shock Construction
Twin-tube design provides extended piston travel compared to mono-tube budget designs. More travel means better ride quality over bumps and rougher surfaces — without sacrificing the handling sharpness you want from a lowered E36.
2"–4" Height Adjustment
Independent height adjustment at the spring seat — lower the car without reducing shock travel. Adjust from a subtle 2" drop for daily driving to a full 4" for the show stance. No compromise on ride quality at any height setting.
Rubber Top Mounts
Rubber top mounts provide natural vibration absorption for street comfort. Unlike pillow-ball (camber plate) mounts that transmit every imperfection from the road surface directly into the chassis, rubber mounts keep the E36 composed and comfortable without sacrificing handling.
Complete Bolt-On Kit
4-piece set: 2 front struts + 2 rear shocks with height-adjustable springs. Includes wrench for spring seat adjustment. No extra parts to buy.
Why Upgrade Your E36?
The E36 chassis is legendary for its driving dynamics — but the stock suspension on 1990s BMWs was tuned for comfort over performance. The original M-Technic suspension was excellent for its time, but these cars are 25–35 years old. Stock shocks are worn. Springs are fatigued. The E36 deserves better.
What coilovers fix:
- Body roll — the E36 rolls noticeably in corners; lowering the CG 2–4" with stiffer spring rates dramatically reduces body lean
- Turn-in response — a lower, stiffer front end responds to steering inputs faster; the E36 goes where you point it instead of understeering away from the apex
- Saggy stock height — 30-year-old springs sit lower than factory spec; coilovers restore the correct ride height and let you set it exactly where you want it
- Damping control — new twin-tube shocks replace worn-out dampers; the car stops bouncing and settles into corners properly
- The look — a 2"–4" drop transforms the E36's proportions; wheel gap gone, stance achieved
Who this kit is for:
- E36 daily drivers that need a handling upgrade without going extreme
- Weekend autocross and track-day E36s
- Show builds that want the perfect stance
- Anyone replacing worn-out stock or cheap coilovers
