Exhaust Headers for 1995-2001 Toyota Tacoma 2.4L/2.7L L4 2DR RWD

Give your early Tacoma a stronger exhaust foundation with a stainless steel header setup built to replace a restrictive, cracked, leaking, or heavily rusted factory manifold. This Flashark exhaust header is intended for select 1995–2001 Toyota Tacoma trucks equipped with the 2.4L 2RZ-FE or 2.7L 3RZ-FE inline-four engine and rear-wheel drive.

It is a practical option for owners restoring an aging exhaust system or building a mild intake-and-exhaust combination. The header uses a multi-piece tubular design with a polished 304 stainless steel finish, TIG-welded flanges, a 1.50-inch inlet, and a 2.50-inch outlet. Gaskets and mounting hardware are included as shown in the product photos.

Who This Tacoma Header Is For

  • Owners of a compatible 1995–2001 Toyota Tacoma with a 2.4L 2RZ-FE or 2.7L 3RZ-FE engine.
  • Drivers with a rear-wheel-drive or two-wheel-drive Tacoma replacing a cracked, leaking, rusted, or restrictive factory exhaust manifold.
  • Owners building a mild naturally aspirated intake, header, and cat-back exhaust combination.
  • Budget-conscious enthusiasts looking for a vehicle-specific alternative to a stock cast manifold.
  • Experienced DIY installers with safe lifting equipment, hand tools, penetrating oil, and the ability to deal with aged exhaust fasteners.
  • Owners willing to compare the product photos and flange layout with the exhaust system currently installed on the truck.

This product requires extra caution if:

  • Your truck has a modified catalytic converter, custom mid-pipe, welded exhaust repair, or non-factory exhaust system.
  • Your Tacoma has heavy underbody rust or previously repaired manifold studs.
  • You cannot confirm whether the engine is a 2RZ-FE or 3RZ-FE.
  • Your truck has a different catalytic-converter, EGR, or oxygen-sensor arrangement from the connections shown in the product images.
  • You expect a guaranteed horsepower number, guaranteed no-CEL operation, or installation without any adjustment on a modified or rusted truck.

Toyota Tacoma Header vs. Factory Exhaust Manifold

The original cast manifold is compact and built around factory cost, packaging, noise, and emissions targets. A tubular header separates the exhaust paths before they merge, helping spent gases move through the system with less interference between cylinders.

On a compatible Tacoma, the result may include cleaner exhaust flow, a sharper response when the engine is under load, and a deeper exhaust note. The actual change depends on engine condition, the catalytic converter, intake system, downstream pipe diameter, muffler design, and whether the existing manifold was already leaking.

This is still one part of the exhaust system. A header cannot correct a clogged catalytic converter, damaged oxygen sensor, leaking flex section, restricted muffler, ignition problem, or low engine compression. Diagnose the truck before ordering parts solely to fix a noise, fault code, or power complaint.

What to Expect After Installation

  • Exhaust flow: The tubular layout is intended to provide a less restrictive path than the original cast manifold.
  • Throttle feel: Some trucks may feel more responsive, particularly when replacing a damaged or leaking manifold.
  • Exhaust tone: Expect a slightly deeper, sharper tone under acceleration. The catalytic converter, resonator, muffler, and pipe diameter still determine most of the final volume.
  • Horsepower: No fixed horsepower increase is guaranteed. The current listing does not provide verified chassis-dyno results for every 2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE combination.
  • Check-engine light: A properly sealed installation that retains the correct sensors may operate normally, but no header installation can be guaranteed never to trigger a CEL.

A check-engine light after installation commonly points to an exhaust leak, damaged sensor, stretched wiring, incorrect sensor placement, altered catalytic-converter efficiency, or another existing engine-management problem. Read the stored code before replacing additional parts.
