Flashark
Flashark Cold Air Intake Kit for 2009-2020 Nissan 370Z / 2008-2013 Infiniti G37 / 2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7L V6 VQ37VHR
The VQ37VHR 3.7L V6 is one of Nissan's most celebrated engines — a high-revving, 7,500 RPM redline powerplant that powers the 370Z, G37, and early Q50. At 332 horsepower (370Z) or 328 horsepower (G37), it delivers impressive specific output for a naturally aspirated V6. But the factory dual intake system uses restrictive plastic resonator boxes, corrugated rubber hoses, and a sealed airbox design that chokes the engine above 5,000 RPM — exactly where the VQ37VHR makes its best power.
This Flashark dual cold air intake replaces both factory intake tracts — from the airboxes to the dual throttle bodies — with two black powder-coated aluminum intake tubes, two oversized red dry-cotton cone filters, and two stamped-steel heat shields. The VQ37VHR uses dual throttle bodies (one per cylinder bank), so it is a true dual-intake system — not a single-pipe kit with a splitter. Each tube feeds directly into one bank, maintaining equal airflow distribution across all six cylinders.
The aluminum tubes use smooth mandrel bends to eliminate the turbulence that factory-corrugated rubber hoses create at every bend. The 2.75" (70 mm) tube diameter delivers significantly more cross-sectional flow area than the stock system. The result: the engine pulls harder from 5,000 RPM to the 7,500 RPM redline — the range where the VQ37VHR was designed to shine but the factory intake holds it back.
Throttle response sharpens across the entire RPM band. The open-element filters and smooth aluminum tubes eliminate the factory resonator's sound suppression, producing a deep, aggressive intake howl under hard acceleration that complements the VQ37VHR's naturally aspirated V6 character. Under normal cruising, the intake remains relatively quiet — the sound only arrives when you demand it.
No cutting, no drilling, no tune required. Both heat shields bolt to factory mounting points. The factory MAF sensors transfer directly to the new intake tubes. Average install time: 60–90 minutes with basic hand tools.
Key Features
Dual Black Powder-Coated Aluminum Intake Tubes — Two lightweight mandrel-bent aluminum tubes with a durable black powder-coat finish replace the factory corrugated rubber hoses. The powder-coat surface resists heat soak and underhood chemicals far better than bare aluminum. Smooth internal bore maintains airflow velocity from the filter outlet to the dual throttle bodies without turbulence-inducing ridges
Dual Oversized Red Dry Cotton Cone Filters — Two high-flow conical filter elements with significantly greater surface area than the stock flat paper panels. Dry cotton gauze media — no oil required, no MAF sensor contamination risk. Washable and reusable for the life of the vehicle. Clean every 10,000–15,000 miles
Dual Stamped Steel Heat Shields — Two steel heat shields isolate the filter elements from underhood radiant heat. On the 370Z/G37 platform, the VQ37VHR sits low in the engine bay and heats soaks the intake area quickly — the dual heat shields preserve intake charge temperature and maintain air density for consistent power output
True Dual Intake System — The VQ37VHR has dual throttle bodies (one per cylinder bank). This kit includes two complete intake tracts — two tubes, two filters, two heat shields — not a single-pipe design with a Y-split. Each cylinder bank receives its own dedicated airflow path
Bolt-On Installation — No Tune Required — Uses factory airbox mounting points. Reuses both stock MAF sensors with no spacer or adapter needed. No ECU reprogramming, no check engine light, no cutting. Compatible with stock and tuned configurations
7–10% Horsepower & 6–8% Torque Gains — Increased airflow to both cylinder banks improves combustion efficiency across the RPM range. On a stock 370Z (332 HP / 270 lb-ft), expect approximately 23–33 HP and 16–22 lb-ft of additional output. Gains are most pronounced in the 5,000–7,500 RPM range
Improved High-RPM Performance — The VQ37VHR's factory intake becomes increasingly restrictive above 5,000 RPM. The dual Flashark intakes maintain airflow velocity through redline, eliminating the factory system's power drop-off at high RPM. The result: stronger acceleration from roll, harder pulls through gears, and a more fulfilling rev-matched downshift experience
Aggressive Intake Sound — Under normal cruising, the intake remains relatively quiet. When you step on the gas, the dual open-element filters and smooth aluminum tubes produce a deep, aggressive howl that perfectly complements the VQ37VHR's high-revving character — especially noticeable at wide-open throttle above 4,000 RPM
1-Year Flashark Warranty — Covered against material defects and manufacturing failures.

How the 370Z & G37 Cold Air Intake System Works
The 370Z cold air intake system begins with the air collector, which draws in cool air and feeds it to the airbox. Inside the airbox, the air filter cleans the air before it's drawn through a fixed tube housing the mass airflow sensor, which measures the air intake for the G37 cold air intake system. The air travels through flexible tubing and a resonator, then into the electronically controlled throttle body. The ECU uses the throttle position sensor to control the throttle body, adjusting airflow based on the driver's commands. After the throttle body, air enters the intake plenum, where it’s split into individual ports for each cylinder and mixes with fuel before entering the engine. The custom-designed intake manifold ensures optimal airflow, enhancing combustion and engine performance.
