Honda gave the D16Y8 VTEC — but then buried its induction voice behind a ribbed rubber intake tube, a restrictive paper panel filter, and a sealed plastic airbox that pulls hot engine-bay air. The result is an engine that makes the right noises on paper but sounds muffled and feels hesitant when you ask for throttle above 4,000 RPM — right where VTEC should be waking up.

This Flashark cold air intake replaces the entire factory system with a 63mm mandrel-bent aluminum tube that routes the air through the filter into the fender well, away from engine heat. The smooth, large-diameter tubing eliminates the turbulence and restriction of the factory-ribbed rubber path, while the relocated filter draws cooler, denser air from outside the engine bay. On a stock D16Y8, expect 3-8 horsepower — but the improvement you'll actually feel is sharper throttle tip-in and a dramatically deeper VTEC induction growl from 4,500 RPM to the 7,200 RPM redline.

Installation uses all factory mounting points — no cutting, no drilling, no permanent modifications. The kit includes everything: an aluminum intake tube, a dry cone filter, a silicone coupler, reinforced breather hoses, stainless steel clamps, and an aluminum mounting bracket with a rubber vibration damper. Basic hand tools, 45-60 minutes, and your D16Y8 finally sounds like it has VTEC.

True Cold Air Routing — The intake tube routes the filter into the fender well cavity, drawing cooler, denser air from outside the engine bay rather than the hot underhood air the factory airbox inhales. Cooler intake air means denser oxygen charge and more consistent performance, especially in summer traffic.

Complete Hardware Kit — Straight silicone coupler (63 × 65mm), two reinforced PCV breather hoses (D15-d9 × 330mm + D15-d7 × 390mm), two stainless steel hose clamps, aluminum mounting bracket with M6 rubber vibration damper, washer, and lock nut. Everything shown is everything included.

3-8 WHP on Stock Tune — Honest, realistic gain for the D16Y8. The most noticeable improvement is sharper throttle response and stronger mid-range pull, not a peak dyno number. Pairs well with a cat-back exhaust and header for cumulative breathing gains.
